Cozy Coven Chronicles

Cozy Coven Chronicles was a collaborative project created as part of my university unit, Cheddar Cat Studios. The game was designed with a VFX and production design studio style, and I was responsible for the environment and level design. I created three maps for the game, which is an open-world role-playing game where players take on the role a new witch in a lively village. The objective is to help the villagers by summoning familiars to hire out or use for your own advantage to complete tasks.

The Game

Welcome to the magical world of our new game! You are a witch who has just arrived in a small village and has been given the task of being the town's witch. Your hut is located on an island off the side of the village, where you can brew potions and use your magical powers to summon familiars. Rent out your familiars to villagers or use them for personal side quests. The game features a fun rhythm game used to summon the familiars, in the future, we plan to add a potion-making mechanic that you can use to sell to villagers or for your own advantage. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of magic and adventure!

The Team

Great teamwork is the key to success, and our team is a perfect example of that. We have a combination of game designers, developers, and VFX artists who worked closely together to create an amazing game. We have effective working methods using Discord and GitHub, and each of us has our own job. My job is to design environment and levels, and I also participated in some of the development. As many our developers were unfamiliar with Unreal Engine, I took the responsibility of helping my team to become familiar with it and creating blueprints.

My Job

As the lead environment and level designer, my role in the team was to create all three in the game - Cozymap, the Potionshop, and the Summoning Basement. I also took on some blueprinting responsibilities. To ensure efficient task management, I used a Trello board and was always available to assist my members. Additionally, I integrated optimization aspects such as limiting HLODs, shadows, and asset quantity, making it easy to access the game on different.

BluePrints

As a an experienced designer in unreal engine blueprints, I have experience in creating immersive gameplay experiences. In addition to designing levels and NPCs, I also excel in blueprint creation, including level transitioning and interactive elements. My expertise extends to UI design, including dialogue boxes, inventory systems, and HUD elements, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for players.
